What Etsy charges sellers — Etsy sellers pay a $0.20 listing fee for each listing or renewal, a 6.5% transaction fee on the total order (item price plus shipping and gift wrap), and a payment processing fee that is about 3% plus $0.25 per transaction for US sellers using Etsy Payments. If Etsy's Offsite Ads generate a sale, the ad fee is 15% of the attributed order for shops under $10,000 in trailing sales, or 12% once the shop passes $10,000. Profit = sale price - listing fee ($0.20) - transaction fee (6.5%) - payment fee (3% + $0.25) - item cost - shipping cost.
Worked example
A $25 sale with $5 item cost and $4 shipping, shipping charged $5: $2.83 in Etsy fees, $9.00 costs, $13.18 profit (52.7% margin).
