Where a $50 sale goes

Your net$47.90Processing$2.10

What this means for your numbers: Since the July 2024 fee removal, Depop's effective cost dropped from ~13% to ~4.2% on the worked example: an $80/year saving on a $100/month selling habit versus the old structure.

Illustrative breakdown using the worked example above. The calculator computes your own numbers with the same formula.

Worked example: a $50 sale, boosted and not boosted

Take a $50 sale with no Boost. Depop's old 10% commission is gone, so the only mandatory deduction is processing: 3.3% of $50 is $1.65, plus the $0.45 fixed fee, for $2.10 total. Net proceeds are $50.00 minus $2.10, which is $47.90. The effective cost is $2.10 divided by $50.00, or 4.2%.

Turn on Boosted Listing and an 8% cut applies to the full sale price: $50.00 times 0.08 is $4.00. Net drops to $47.90 minus $4.00, or $43.90, and the effective cost rises to $6.10 on $50.00, or 12.2%. The fixed $0.45 matters more on cheap items: on a $12 sale it is 3.75% of the price by itself, so total processing runs 3.3% of $12 ($0.40) plus $0.45, or $0.85, an effective 7.1% before any Boost. On a $150 sale the same $0.45 is only 0.3%, bringing processing down to 3.6%.

What the calculator leaves out

Processing fees apply to the order total including sales tax and shipping where the buyer pays them, but this tool prices the item value only, so a real payout can differ by a few cents from the estimate. Depop's commission removal applies to US and UK sellers; listings elsewhere have historically carried a 10% fee, and marketplaces like eBay or Poshmark charge their own commissions, so compare against each platform's current published rates before deciding where to list.

Shipping is the biggest unmodeled variable. Depop passes label costs to the buyer in most cases, but sellers who offer free shipping absorb it directly: a $5.70 USPS Ground Advantage label on that $50 sale would cut net proceeds from $47.90 to $42.20, a bigger hit than the processing fee itself. Boosted Listing percentages and eligibility have also changed over time, so treat the 8% figure as the rate to verify in your Selling Hub rather than a permanent constant.
