Home improvement is a measuring and materials problem: area, volume, and waste drive how much material you buy and what the project costs. Getting the area right before you buy flooring, paint, or concrete avoids both over-buying and running short. BoringToolsKit's home and construction calculators compute area, volume, and the material quantities you need for common projects, locally and without an account.
- Area (sq ft) = length × width; divide by coverage to get material needed.
- Add ~10% waste to account for cuts and mistakes.
- Volume (e.g. concrete) = area × depth.
- Measure the project area in feet or meters.
- Divide area by the material's coverage per unit.
- Add a waste allowance and compare to a budget.
Worked example: a 10×12 bathroom floor
