## How it works

Future value = principal × (1 + monthly rate)^n, where monthly rate = annual rate ÷ 100 ÷ 12 and n = years × 12. Compounding is applied monthly on a single starting amount.

## Worked example

With $5,000 at a 5% annual rate over 10 years, the monthly rate is 5 ÷ 100 ÷ 12 and there are 120 monthly periods, so future value = 5000 × (1 + 0.004167)^120.

## Assumptions

- Growth is modeled with monthly compounding on one starting amount; no recurring contributions are added.
- The annual rate and number of years are user-provided planning inputs.
- This is compound-growth math only, not investment advice, a prediction, or a guaranteed return.

## Common questions

### How does this savings calculator work?

It calculates future value as principal × (1 + annual rate ÷ 100 ÷ 12) raised to years × 12.

### Does it include monthly deposits?

No. It models growth on one starting amount only and does not add recurring contributions.

### What rate should I enter?

Enter the annual percentage rate you want to test. The calculator uses that rate and monthly compounding as user-provided assumptions, not a prediction.
