## How it works

Profit = sale price - listing fee ($0.20) - transaction fee (6.5%) - payment fee (3% + $0.25) - item cost - shipping cost.

## Worked example

A $25 sale with $5 item cost and $4 shipping, shipping charged $5: $2.83 in Etsy fees, $9.00 costs, $13.18 profit (52.7% margin).

## Assumptions

- Etsy fee schedules, payment processing, ads, and offsite-ad rules can change.
- Taxes, refunds, currency conversion, packaging, labor, and overhead may be additional.
- Shipping charged and actual shipping cost should be entered separately.

## Common questions

### Why are Etsy fees editable?

The calculator is for scenario planning. Always verify the current Etsy policy and your shop settings.

### Does this include offsite ads?

Use an ad or extra-cost field if offsite ads apply to the order.

### What should I compare next?

Check margin/markup and payment fees to see whether the price still works after costs.
