## How it works

CPM = cost ÷ impressions × 1000. Given any two of cost, impressions, and CPM, the third is determined. Estimated ad revenue = pageviews ÷ 1000 × page RPM.

## Worked example

A $1,000 campaign that serves 500,000 impressions has a CPM of (1000/500000)×1000 = $2.00. Conversely, 100,000 monthly pageviews at a $15 RPM yields 100 × $15 = $1,500 per month in estimated revenue.

## Assumptions

- CPM is defined as cost per 1,000 impressions.
- RPM (revenue per mille) already accounts for fill rate and blended ad formats.
- Revenue estimates are based on the values you enter and are planning aids, not guarantees.

## Common questions

### What is CPM?

CPM stands for cost per mille (thousand). It is the cost of 1,000 ad impressions: CPM = cost ÷ impressions × 1000.

### How do I calculate CPM?

Divide the campaign cost by the number of impressions and multiply by 1,000. A $1,000 campaign with 500,000 impressions has a CPM of $2.00.

### What is the difference between CPM and RPM?

CPM is the cost per 1,000 ad impressions (advertiser's view); RPM is the revenue per 1,000 pageviews (publisher's view). RPM already factors in fill rate and ad mix.

### How do I estimate ad revenue from pageviews?

Multiply pageviews ÷ 1000 by your page RPM. For 100,000 pageviews at $15 RPM that is $1,500 per month.

### Can I calculate impressions or cost from CPM?

Yes. Impressions = (cost ÷ CPM) × 1000, and cost = (CPM × impressions) ÷ 1000. This calculator solves any of the three from the other two.
